Uganda might not achieve Millennium Development Goals

The speaker of parliament Edward Kiwanuka Sekandi has predicted failure by Uganda to achieve millennium development goals by 2025.

Addressing a group of newly elected MPs during a one day training on climate change sekandi said that Uganda is too slow and if it continues with the pace at which things are moving it will fail to achieve its targets.

He said that Uganda’s efforts should be doubled in order to improve the social sector in the country.

He said that production has reduced and the environment is changing therefore government has to work hard in order to change the trend at which things are moving.

He advised the members of parliament for the 9th parliament to take environment issues seriously because the country’s future is based on the environmental conditions.

He said that the efforts to have improved environment should be collective efforts and therefore they should use the knowledge from the training to help their communities in protecting the environment.
