Kampala Court sentences former Uganda ADF rebels

The Kampala High court has sentenced two former ADF rebels namely Yokabo Kombo Kintu and Muzamiri kabogoza to 8-10 years imprisonment respectively after pleading guilty to recruiting rebels to and engaging the Uganda defense forces at war with an aim of over throwing the government of Uganda.

High court judge justice Atwooki Rugadya ruled the sentence of 8 years to Yokobu because he appeared to court whereas Kabogoza was sentenced 10 years because he had abused the armnesty pardon granted to him in 2004.

Kintu and Kabogoza admitted in court that in 2006-2007 the recreated people from Mubende, Kiboga, Masaka, Kampala, Kasese, Bundibugyo, Busia and Mbarara to join rebel activities of ADF forces.

They also admitted that they provided medicine, security information anddialogistics to the newly recruited rebels.

Kintu was arrested from Mangoma in Kibaale district with 18 bullets, while Kabogoza was arrested from Sempaya River in Bundibugyo district after being shot by government forces who were fighting with the ADF rebels in the mountains of Rwenzori.
