President Yoweri Museveni has given 229 million shillings for the construction of a perimeter wall around the Uganda Martyrs Shrines in Namugongo, Kampala.

The Chairperson of the Uganda Martyrs Shrines Development Foundation, John Matovu told the over 1 million Christians who were at the Uganda Martyrs Day celebration at Namugongo Shrines on June 3 that the money was a pledge the President made last year.

Matovu said that the total budget for the fence is 250 million shillings urging Christians and other Samaritans to avail the balance of 21 million shillings.

Meanwhile on the same day, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) under leadership of Retired Col. Dr. Kiiza Besigye was supplying flyers containing some religious message with political innuendo.

The distribution exercise was managed by Sarah Eperu amid the police failing threats to block the exercise from continuing.
