71 ministers swear-in at State House

The 71 ministers who were approved by the Parliament Appointments Committee last week will be sworn in at State House on June 6.

The swearing-in will follow protocol as the Vice President, Edward Sekandi will be the first to be sworn-in, followed by the Prime minister, Amama Mbabazi and the three deputy premiers, Eriya Kategaya, Henry Kajura and Moses Ali will also follow in that order.

After the Prime Ministers the Cabinet Ministers will follow before the State Ministers take stage.

The four nominees including Nasser Sebagala, Saleh Kamba, James Kakooza and Mbabaali Muyanja who were blocked by the appointments committee will not attend.

Kamba, Kakooza and Mbabaali did not pass the vetting process over wanting academic documents. The President had nominated the tripartite for Bunyoro Affairs, Investment and Primary Healthcare ministries respectively.

The Minister without Portfolio appointee, Sebagala was blocked due to his past criminal record and partly due to his poor English language expression.

However, some sources from State House say President Museveni may use the plenary to decide on the fate of the blocked appointees.
