A bridge connecting Gulu and Juba has collapsed disrupting traffic along the Gulu-Juba Highway. The bridge over Aweru in Amuru district gave way as a loaded truck tried to cross.

Heavy trucks loaded with goods and route to southern Sudan have been forced to turn back their routes to Gulu while those coming from southern Sudan are parked at Aweru trading centre.

Light vehicles are now using the roads that connect from Keyo trading centre via Lamogi sub-county headquaters and then all the way back to Gulu–Juba road at Aweru.

Aweru district resident district commission and police spokesperson Jocita Ohuru has advised the transporters leading to Juba to call off their trips until the national roads authority rectifies the problem.
