Women MPs appeal to teachers against the strike

Women Members of Parlaiment under their umbrella organization ,Uganda parliamentary Women Association  (UWOPA) have appealed to the teachers in the country to stay their strike and continue teaching until parliament comes out with the resolution.

Speaking to the press at parliament the chairperson of the organization Betty Amongi parliament supports the teachers requests and is doing all that is possible to have teachers responded. She says that parliament has already shown good will to have teacher’s salary increased and therefore teachers have to be patient.

She says that the budget committee is working around the clock so it needs to be given time. She says that the strike doesn’t affect the government but people who are affected are the parents and pupils who are innocent.

Meanwhile Adjumani district woman mp Ababiku Jessica says that negotiations should continue instead of a strike which will affect the innocent Ugandans.

She says that government has to speak of only increment to avoid the mess that might come out of the strike. She says that teachers strike affects everyone better than other sectors and therefore a need for calmness.
