Prof. Bukenya getting on with life in prison, returns to court on Tuesday

The prisons spokesman, Frank Baine says that the former Uganda’s Vice president, Gilbert Bukenya is in good health condition and will be presented in court on Tuesday 11th October for his bail hearing.

Bukenya was remanded at Luzira prison on Monday this week by the anti corruption court sitting in Kampala after the same court committed him for trial over mismanaging CHOGM funds.

Bukenya is in Luzira Eastern wing staying in a cubicle of two people. His prison number is 695/2011. Although he was given a prison uniform, Bukenya has been allowed to dress his private clothes. Security sources also say that Bukenya’s prison cell has been beefed with enough security.

We are told that when the former vice president wants to communicate to his relatives, the prisons authorities allow him to do so. He also gets lunch prepared by his wife. Bukenya is also allowed to access his personal doctor at wish. The former VP receives newspapers of his choice.
