Ugandans on Tuesday entered the second month of the much awaited FDC Presidential Elections! This is without a doubt a campaign of the profoundest interest to all forward looking Ugandans and the country.
In this FDC internal campaigns, there are but three candidates and but one issue. There is no longer even the pretence of unity between these FDC candidates in the same party. They should substantially be one in what they stand for, the FDC party! The candidates in the race to replace Col. Kiiza Besigye, as the FDC party president, are Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu, Tororo Municipality MP Geoffrey Ekanya and Leader of opposition in parliament, Nandala Mafabi.
To the long suffering Ugandans, these three candidates in name are one. Other parties, especially the NRM are going to pieces. Having outlived their time they have become corrupt and worse than useless and now present a spectacle of political degeneracy never before witnessed in this or any other country. All are torn by dissension and rife with disintegration. The evolution of the forces underlying them is tearing them from their foundations and sweeping them to inevitable destruction.
We have before us in the FDC, this hour, an opportunity to be different, rise up and seize the opportunity that blessed this party right from inception! We cannot, should not be tempted to be an exhibit of the most corrupt, intrigue-filled machine politics which lays bare the true inwardness of the likes of the NRM camp.
Comrades and friends, the campaign before us gives us our supreme opportunity to reach the Ugandan people. They have but to know the true meaning of the FDC party, to accept its philosophy and the true mission of the party to give it their support. Let us all unite as we never have before to place the issue of the party squarely before the masses. For years they have been deceived, misled and betrayed, and they are now hungering for the true message of relief and the true message of emancipation from the NRM dictatorship!
This is our year as a party in Uganda! The very air we breathe and the times before us should inspire men and women to action for the future.
“FDC Ideals”
These are the ideals of the FDC party, and to these ideals it has consecrated all its energies and all its powers; The members of the party are the party and their collective will is the supreme law, organized and ruled from the bottom up. There is no superiority and there never can be unless the party deserts its principles and ceases to be the party that I have come to trust and believe in! It is the only political party that is so supported. Each member has not only an equal voice but is urged to take an active part in all the party activities. The party relies wholly upon the power of education, knowledge, and mutual understanding. It buys no votes and I hope that the millions that are now making rounds don’t spell doom for our future!
Onward, comrades, onward in the struggle, until Triumphant Mugisha Muntu! An Emancipated Race and a New Chapter in FDC!
