security minister defends the closure of General Sejusa’s office

The state minister for security has defended the closure of the office of the coordinator of security and Intelligence General David Ssejusa saying it posed security concerns.

Appearing before the parliamentary Committee on rules and discipline, Muruli Mukasa said the office of the National Coordinator was closed after General Sejusa’s disappearance and his continued controversial statements in the media.

Mukasa says told the committee that the officers that were working with the renegade solider under this office were redeployed back to their units in the Military because the office could become a source of insecurity.

The security Minister assured the committee members led by West Buduma County Fox Odoi that coordination of the security and intelligence information can be well addressed by the other existing the security committees. Mukasa mentioned the joint intelligence committee established by the law adding that this can be supplemented by the line minister to ensure security coordination.

Muruli was asked to avail the committee with Gen Ssejusa’s letters of appointment and other documents for the redeployment of the officers that were in Intelligence co-ordination office.
