UMI Director General Dr. James Nkata says there is need for readjustment of the curriculum, evaluate and account what higher learning institutions do so as to move forward to desirable levels of education standards.
Presenting a paper on the status of University education in Uganda at the Uganda Vice Chancellors’ Forum conference in Kampala, Nkata said evaluation and accountability continue to be a challenge to higher education in the country.
He says due to accountability challenges, many universities lack capacity to attract and secure adequate resources thereby making it difficult for them to respond to the challenging demands of higher education.
Nkata adds that without mechanisms to ensure equitable resources in place, university education will continue to attract challenges.
