Electoral Commission warns Political parties that have not honored the Constitutional obligation of submitting Audited Accounts that they risk being dragged to Court.
Electoral Commission Secretary Sam Rwakoojo while appearing before Public Accounts Committee said   Section 12(3) and (4) of the Political Parties and Organizations Act 2005 requires every political party to be audited once every year but not more than six months after the closure of their financial year and a copy of the audited accounts to be filed by the Electoral Commission within the six months period.
Rwakoojo while responding to Auditor Generals Queries of 2010/11 said the commission has already taken 10 Political Parties in Court for failure to submit Audited Accounts as he explains before the Committee.
According to Rwakoojo out of 38 registered Parties a few Parties have honored the Constitutional obligation and they are in dialogue with other political parties which submit audited accounts late.
