Buganda Katikiro to meet parliament in a fundraise drive for kasubi tombs reconstruction.

Members of the Buganda Parliamentary Caucus has finalized with arrangements for the National Assembly to host the Katikiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga who is currently on a fundraising drive to restore Royal Kasubi Tombs.

Speaking after interfacing with the speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga on the institution’s preparation for his visit, the Buganda Caucus Chairperson Kiwanda said that Buganda Kingdom Prime Minister will be visiting the entire Parliamentary community to raise contributions for the Kasubi Tombs Project.

Kiwanda said all members of parliament in the 9th parliament and other people working around the National Assembly regardless of their political and ethnic differences are represented on the organizing committee for this occasion.

Though he could not mention the date for the visit, Kiwanda said that kingdom Premier is scheduled to visit Parliament when it resumes business, in order to engage all lawmakers and also be able to attend one of the session.

The vice chairperson of the Caucus Betty Nambooze says that this will be the first time a cultural leader visits the National Assembly which sets a good precedent for other cultural leaders.

Nambooze said that there is no specific amount of money any person is supposed to give towards the Masiro Project that is budgeted at 5 billion shillings.
