Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago rearrested, beaten by police

It is now real drama on Kampala streets!! The police have re-arrested the Lord Mayor of Kampala, Erias Lukwago and drove him back to Nagalama police station in Kayunga district where he was held the whole of yesterday.

The police and other security organs citing orders from above no longer want him to visit hospitals, shops and all social centres without permission from government.

The Lord Mayor is denied all his inherent rights to free movement, speech and association. The Police spokesperson, Judith Nabakooba says Lukwago was rearrested under preventive measures.

Lukwago was also on Monday arrested near his home in Rubaga Division and taken to Nagalama Police Station in Mukono District where he spent a day and part of the night before he was released late at night. Police held Lukwago on allegations of inciting violence, and disobeying statutory duty under Section 116 of the Penal Code.
