Members of parliament reactions on Lord Mayor’s impeachment

Mps have expressed mixed reactions over the impeachement of Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago.

Lukwago impeachement was reached at a meeting to vote him out of office held at Kampala capital City Authority today.

During the special session chaired by the by Minister in charge of the Presidency and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Frank Tumwebaze, 29 councilors voted in favour of voting Lukwago out of office while three voted against it.

Speaking to mps on the matter, youth mp for nothern region Evyline Anite said according to the law it gives councillors the mandate to decide.

While Ntoroko district woman mp,Jenipher mujungu said that due process was followed and the councillors based their decision on the tribunal report. She adds that if Lukwago is not satsfied the law allows him to appeal against the decision within 21 days
