Government launches a new maternal health for child health programme

GOVT DONOR PARTNERS LAUNCH NEW MATERNAL CHILD HEALTH PROG 26TH/NOV/13.

Govt and donor partners that deal in maternal health issues have today launched a new programmee dubbed sharpened reproductive maternal and new born and child health plan which targets to reduce lives lost as a result of maternal death to 6100 among mothers and 12000 among new borns.

At the launch of the programmee the vice president, Gilbert sekandi states that govt is committed to making a better and safer world for everyone.

Speaking at the launch of the programme in Kampala, the life minister assures the gathering that govt is set to start offering free health services to expectant mothers before and after birth of their new borns across the country with the programme set to start rolling next year.

The programmee is operating in the districts of Kibale, Kabarole and Kyanjojo and signs of reducing death have been registered very well.
