poor health financing worries health activists.

Towards financing maternal health regressive with service delivery in the health sector reducing in the last 3 financial years.

The review by Action Group for Health (AGHA) indicates that government passed 49 billion shillings to recruit and remunerate health workers at health centers 2,3 and 4 but only 7,211 were recruited instead of the target of over 10,000 health workers.

The study indicates that even the recruited health workers have left their duty stations due to lack of accommodation, failure to pay their salaries on time forced a number of health workers to abandon their work.

The study recommends that government should consider other alternative sources of funding for the health sector like introducing health insurance scheme and taxing industries to contribute to the country’s health care.
