NAADS failed to account 7.1 bllion shillings

The national Agricultural Advisory services (NAADS ) has shocked MPS on public accounts committee for failure to produce the accountability docurement s of funds released districts for agricultural services .
The mps while meeting NAADS officials led by the NAADS executive director Dr. Sam Mugasi discovered six districts which got NAADS funds worth 7.1 billion shillings did not account for it.
The committee mps chaired by kasiano Wadri shocked to hear that NAADS secretariat continued to release funds to the districts which had failed the previous year 2011 to account the money even in the following years.
The six districts which did not account for the 7.1 billion shillings include Iganga, Napak, Amuria, Zombo,aleptong and Kabong.
The committee said that the Executive director is held liable for the 7.1 billion shillings since he failed to demand accountability from the districts and taking action against those who abused the funds.
However , the member of parliament for Rwemiyaga county Theodro Sekikubo wanted the committee to hand over the officers responsible for non-accountability of 7.1 billion shillings to police CID to intriogate them over the unaccounted for funds. bur some mps like Eddie Kwizera and Jacob Opolot opposed it.
Reports indicate that over 100 billion shillings sent to different districts for NAADS services in the financial year 2010/11.
