Dp celebrates 60 years

The Democratic Party will tomorrow celebrate 60 years of its existence in Uganda amidst external political challenges and internal political differences that have failed the party to take over power in spite being the oldest political party in the country.

The Democratic Party is Uganda’s oldest political party found in 1956 by its founding father the late Benedict Kiwanuka who was once Uganda’s Prime Minister in the road to independence before he was killed by Uganda’s renowned dictator Idi Amin in a cold blood.

However, as the party celebrates 60 years of its existence in Uganda from the time it was formed in 1956, Many of its members have defected to other political parties and pressure groups in the country,.

In the late fifties when the party was formed, it focused much on improving the livelihoods of Ugandans, fought for justice and equality.
