world vision extends maternal health and child care services in kabale

World vision has launched a maternal and child care services
campaign in kabale district aimed at saving children at birth in
healthy centers.

This world vision as a Nongovernmental has been operating in Rukyiga
County only for the last eleven years aiming at reproductive maternal,
newborn and child healthy for child survival.

The assistant district healthy officer kabale Doctor Muntare Peter
revealed that according to the exercise conducted by the White
Ribbon Alliance last year indicated that a total of 78 healthy workers
quited the healthy units which has caused over load to the few that
remained there hence high referral rate since they cannot carry out
deliveries due to under staffing.

Muntare also said that out of seven healthy centers IV only one has
got a qualified doctor and yet all are supposed to carry out
deliveries which have limited service delivery in healthy units and
even congestion at referral hospital.

Doctor Catherine Nsubuga Serwabwe medical officer in her
presentation said that world vision with other 12 developing partners
has committed itself to curb down the number of mother and children
who die during labour.

She however called upon all developing patterners to come together
and save these mothers and children since as the district is yet to
receive 682 million Uganda shillings in the Champaign of maternal and
child care.
