kyegegwa residents protest land eviction

A group of residents of kyakabamba and Igunda villages in Kyegegwa district who were evicted from their land by the National forest Authority have asked president Yoweri Museveni to come to their rescue to regain their land.

Addressing a news conference at subway restaurant
in kampala on behalf of others residents Sam kagware,Jamil Nsamba and moses Muhabuzi said that they were evicted illegally after one government official David Rusa connived by NFA and used military to evict them.

The residents also accused the RDC of kyegegya district Mrs. Baguma Nyakwera and the distrct L.c5 chairman Norman Birungi of using police and Updf soldiers to demolish houses and cutting down their crops.
The resident claim that the RDC and the chairman LC5 chased the residents from their land on which they have live over 50 years on presidential orders.

They said that they are now homeless and currently are staying at churches and mosques and added that the president should use his power allow them get back their land.

They blamed their area mps William Kwemara Ngabu and Flavia kabahenda for keeping quit when are being chased their land on claim that they fear the area RDC.

The eviction affected 700 people who were on 99 acres of land.
