New maternal health campaign launched

As a result of continued death of mothers and their new borns at birth has compelled White Ribbon Allaince Uganda to launch a new three year maternal campaign dubbed, Act now to save mothers’ that will be piloted in the three districts of Mityana, Kabale and Lira.

Addressing the media before the launch of the campaign this evening, the national coordinator, White ribbon alliance Uganda, Robinah Biteyi, 17 mother and 106 babies die daily during birth attributing the loss to poor facilitation and staffing of health departments in the country which now they are targeting govt to improve before the ned of this campaign to save lives of Ugandans.

And the project coordinator, Sam Senfuka, says that the situation at the health facilities in the three selected districts if very much wanting hence the need to have the campaign to remind govt of tis committements towards improving maternal health across the country and also call for the increment in primary health care funding.
