mubile calls for financial literacy among students

The central bank governor, Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebire is strongly calling for the enhancement of financial literacy lessons in schools as the only way the Ugandan population will understand how to manage and use money at their disposal.

Speaking at the launch of the 4th edition of the annual national secondary schools’ performaning arts festivals for 2014 that will see 47 secondary schools take part, Mutebire mentioned that many Ugandans lack knowledge on how to use money which has left them in absolute poverty with others resorting to loans..
However, the state minister for education in charge of primary education, Hon. Kamanda Bataringaya stresses the need for schools to use MDD as the best channel to move knowledge to learners saying this methods strongly imparts knowledge which can not easily be washed away from the brains.
The festivals geared at teaching students how to manage finances will be starting at regional level and see its climax starting from 1st August this year at national theater.
