The National traditional healers and birth attendants association led
by Silvia Namutebi popularly known as mama Phinah has called for a
proper law that will regulate the operations of traditional healers
and herbalist in the country as way to control human sacrifices.

Appearing before the Gender Committee of parliament chaired by workers
representative Arinaitwe Rwakajara , Maama Phinah said as the
association they have tried to screen the traditional healers to
get rid of the fake ones but the problem is when they hand them to
police there is no proper law under which they can punished.

She had appeared before the committee to explain the difference
between traditional leaders and witch doctors that the civil society
organizations have accused of being behind child sacrifice.

Maama Phinah also diassociated the traditional healers and herbalists
she led being behind ritual murders and child sacrifice.

She also blamed the media for marketing traditional doctors by over
giving them space to advertise their activities which at times
contribute to human sacrifice.
