The entire Buganda Kingdom is cerebrating 21st anniversary of his Royal Majesty, Kabaka (King) Ronald Muwenda Mutebi as the 36th king of Buganda kingdom on the throne of his fore fathers.

President Museveni and the government of Uganda have congratulated Kabaka upon this milestone achievement and Museveni asked for heavenly blessings to reign on the throne.

Museveni has regularly stated that had it not NRM government, the Kabaka wouldnt be on his throne. But it should also be remembered that the Kabaka is not an NRM regime king. The NRM regime kings are the pseudo kings of Banyara, Baruuli, Bamba… communities who don’t have history of kings and have never had kings or kingdom ever before.

Buganda kingdom is a very different case. Buganda existed over 1000 years ago and it has a rich history of generation of about 36 kings who have ruled Buganda on a hereditary basis.

And even when fallen Ugandan President Milton Obote attempted to ban kingdoms, the people of Buganda found in central region administered him his most deserving dose when they teamed up with rebels and fought his reign.
