Why stroke is not common in youth but common in adults?

About 15 million people worldwide suffer from stroke each year that passes by.  Sadly, about 3 million women and 2.5m men die as a direct result of suffering from stroke.

In addition to this tragic loss of life, another 5 million people are left disabled, placing a burden on family, community and society who have to take care of them. Stroke isn’t common in people younger than 40 years of age but when it occurs, high blood pressure is the cause of stroke.

Treating and preventing High Blood Pressure (HBP) can reduce on the risk of someone contracting stroke up to 40%…prevention is the ultimate cure of stroke. Therefore a stroke is the brain’s equivalent to a heart attack. The brain requires blood flow in order to function. Brain damage occurs when the brain loses its oxygen and energy supply. The symptoms of stroke as well as damage depend on which part of the brain is injured and how severely it is affected. A stroke can cause irreversible damage, immediate paralysis and even sudden death.
