African leaders rush to US to meet Obama

 

President Yoweri Museveni on Monday left for the United States of America where he is scheduled to join other African leaders for the US-Africa leaders’ Summit that has been called by US President Barack Obama.

The 4-day meeting is set to take place in Washington DC from 4th to 7th August 2014. Museveni was accompanied by his wife Janet Museveni, who is also Minister for Karamoja. Museveni was seen off at Entebbe International Airport by Minister for Presidency, Frank Tumwebaze and the Head of Public Service, John Mitala.

Other Uganda government officials who saw Museveni off to US were Chief of Staff of Air Force, Col. James Birungi, Deputy Inspector General of Police Okoth Ochola and the Commissioner General of Prisons, Dr. Johnson Byabyashaija.

The US-Africa Summit is to focus on issues of trade and investment. The US Summit will serve as a forum at which  the United State of America will underline its commitment to the African continent and its  people, democracy and security.
