blood shortage as students went for holiday

The Uganda Blood Transfusion Bank registers blood shortage during school holidays because Secondary school students are considered as the major blood donors across the country.

According to the national blood donor coordinator for Uganda blood transfusion service, William Mugisha students are the major donors of blood and when they close there is a shortage.

This was during the opening of the two day Acacia Family Medical Camp going on at Acacia Medical Center.

Mugisha urged the public to be willing to give blood because it is the same people who use the blood.

He says that as an organization they are working to solve the challenge by moiling communities on the need to donate blood.

The Center manager Aga Khan University Hospital Martha Osiro said that the medical camp sponsored by the Aga Khan University Hospital, Knight Frank will offer free treatment especially for pregnant mothers and children.

She emphasized the importance of people knowing their health status and they should take advantage of such medical camps.
