UPDF wants more funds to sustain south sudan war

Members of parliament sitting on the Defence and internal Affairs is probing the UPDF expenditure for South Sudan operation.
MPs said the expenditure has gone high and claimed that more than Shs 50billion has so far been spent on the South Sudan mission where by part 25 billion shillings was spent in only three months
Mps on the committee chaired by Benny Namugwanya probe the expenditure of UPDF in south sudan after the minister of Defence Dr.Crispus Kiyonga told the committee that they may need additional funds to sustain the force in south sudan as UPDF troops wait for IGAD forces to take over security in south Sudan effectively.
He told mps that south Sudan is only giving Uganda troops fuel for military operations and Uganda is still funding UPDF presence in this country .
The shadow minister for Defence Hassan Kaps Fungaroo said that government should full accountability of how much money has so far been injected into the operation since some foreign forces have been contributing towards the cause.
In the same vain the member of parliament for Kyadondo East Ibrahim Semujju Nganda asked ministry of Defence to prevail over talks with the UPDF generals who deserted the UPDF and declared war to Uganda government.
Semujju said that government should hold talks with Col Samson Mande and General Sejusa so as they abandon the rebel aggression against government to avoid engaging in costly war.
