Museveni told to end his war against Mbabazi

A group of NRM Youth members have urged President Museveni to settle
his grievances with former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi amicably as
the party prepares for the 2016 polls.

In a press conference at Makerere University today, Ian Gumisiriza the
National coordinator for the Poor NRM Youth Movement said a protracted
power struggle between the NRM Secretary General and his boss would
give an upper hand to the opposition in the 2016 presidential
elections.

He added that President Museveni should make peace with Mbabazi as
soon as they can and once they fail to do so, the Youth will advise
them to leave the party to the young generations because there are
many young people that are experienced in running the party organs
than two of them.

Saddam Ismail, a coordinator for the NRM poor youths, said the home
welcoming ceremony organized for president Museveni last weekend was
one of the avenues government has used to frustrate Mbabazi’s
presidential bid.

He adds that they have no problem with the appointment of the new
Prime Minister because the president used his constitutional powers
but they are against the sole candidature of president Museveni,
saying that as far as the sole candidature for presidency is
concerned, as the poor NRM youths are ready to support any new NRM
presidential candidate provided he is elected democratically by the
party members.

During the function, President Museveni explicitly made it clear that
the ruling National Resistance Movement party was secured by blood and
that no single person is going to be allowed to play games in the
political organization.

Museveni, who is also the party chairman, received a standing ovation
after issuing the warning which many believed was directed at the
Secretary General Amama Mbabazi. He was recently fired and replaced by
the Health Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda.
