mps demand for ease of traffic on kampala-jinja road

The speaker of parliament Rebecca kadaga demands government to widen Jinja Kampala road to ease traffic which keeps people on the road for 7 hours when the journey is 1 hour drive .
She told parliament that Kampala Jinja –kampala need to be redesigned with a strategy to reduce on traffic flow since this route is a gate way TO Burundi and Rwanda.
In his repsonce the minister of works Abraham Byandala said that Jinj-kampala road is under rehabilitation as government is in process on designing another alternative road from kampala to jina to ease traffic on this road.
He told the users of this road from jinja to kampala to use the alternative road from Mukono to kalagi and join Gayaza road as a bye pass to beat traffic.
However the shadow minister for works who is also the mp Kumi county in kumi district Patrick Amuriat Oboi told government to first repair Mukono –kalagi road to accommodate the heavy traffic flow saying that this road is in poor state and narrow.
The member of parliament for kitgum district Beatrice Anywar also told government to work on Gulu kitgum road which cut off this road network following heavy rain in the area and is making transport costly .
The member of parliament for Bugabula north in kamuli district Andrew Allan asked president Yoweri Museveni to honour his pledge and enforce the construction of Buyende kamuli road which is in bad state and people have started planting banana trees in it in protest of its poor state but the minister of works Engineer Abraham Byandala warned people against digging this road because it will worsen it and said that government is in process of working on this road
