Political Activists call for transitional government

Political activists organized under the Evolution of Human Dignity, a civil society organization, have asked the Committee of Legal and Parliamentary Affairs to disregard the on-going process of constitutional amendment. The group chairperson Dan Mulika said that the country’s urgent and priority need is to form a Transitional government that will organize for making of a people’s constitution as desired by the 15 indigenous founder nations.

Mulika who criticized the current regime said that Uganda is currently governed under a regime constitution which is always amended to suit the desires of those in power. He said that the proposed transitional government after 2016 would ensure reorganization of the state to address oppression and dominance.

The former Katikiro of Buganda explains that the Evolution of Human Dignity proposes a grand sovereign National convention for all Ugandans hailing from the 15 founder nations of Uganda that would establish a Sovereign Authority to steer the country forward. He says that at the end of the NRM regime in 2016, the sovereign Authority would be in position to govern the country and lead to the making of a National Constitution with a maximum of three years under a transitional government.
