Some Members of Parliament have blocked a motion seeking fundraising for Pope Francis’ visit to Uganda. The motion had been attempted to be moved by the woman Member of Parliament for Kabarole district Victoria Busingye Rusoke.

Busingye wanted members of parliament to contribute generously towards the successful hosting of the Pope in Uganda. However ,MPs who included Nathan Nandala Mafabi objected that such a serious motion  should be moved by a government  minister .

Pope Francis is expected to visit Uganda on November 27th -29th 2015. Pope Francis will be in Uganda to mark the 50th anniversary of Pope Paul VI’s canonization during the first visit by a pontiff to Africa of 22 Catholic martyrs — converts to Christianity who were executed in the 19th century.
