Local herbalists are strongly decrying the continued cutting down of forests across the country which are the source of the medicinal roots of the products they make for the clients. The representative of the herbalists on the NDA board, Haji Mukwaya Jamilu Lutakome says that as people try to earn a living through  timber selling, among other activities in the forests, this has seen tree spices used to make herbal medicines tremendously brought down in discriminatively hence causing scarcity of medical sources.

He now urges all Ugandans to embark on planting trees and desist from cutting down forests saying this will in the end have a side effect on the health and environment of Uganda.

In a related development, herbalists are urging professional medics and pharmacists to work with them as they move towards improving herbal medicines.
