MultiChoice Uganda, a pay TV provider, officially launched its new corporate headquarters and Customer care Centre in Kololo. The ceremony doubled as their 20th anniversary celebration and was presided over by the Prime Minister of Uganda Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda. The new headquarter, which was constructed over the last 12 months includes offices for key management staff, an expanded call center and an ultra-modern customer care office, with dedicated parking for over 30 cars. MultiChoice has become the first pay T.V provider in the country to build a permanent home.

Rugunda said Government appreciates what MultiChoice had achieved for the country through their investment. ‘It is a clear sign that the Government policy of liberalizing key sectors previously dominated by state owned companies is clearly working and must continue’, he said. He welcomed the call for increased Private Public collaboration in order to help spread the digital migration beyond the major towns and urban centers. He said Government fully appreciates the benefits the migration will bring the nation, in terms of freeing up spectrum for usage in data and voice applications. The Premier urged the Ministry of ICT and UCC to pursue Public Private opportunities with other players in the sector to accelerate the migration process.

The Chairman MultiChoice Uganda, Charles Musoke, thanked government for providing a conducive investment climate. Recounting the journey of the company over the last 20 years Musoke said ‘From our humble beginnings on Bombo road, to Buganda road and to this state of the art facility, the company has been pushing for technological advancement’.

Over 35,000 students have benefited from the interactive digital platform MultiChoice provides. MultiChoice Uganda was launched in 1995 on Bombo road. In 2011, the GOTV channel was also launched. The ceremony was attended by, among others, the South African High Commissioner to Uganda Major General Mollo.
