NRM CEC meeting resolves to maintain status quo on speakership posts

Kadaga

NRM CEC meeting at state house Entebbe yesterday resolved to maintain the status quo for speakership and deputy speaker implying that Kadaga and Oulanyah are back as heads of the 10th parliament respectively. Sources that attended the caucus told us that CEC chaired by President Museveni resolved to front them as the party’s candidates for those posts because they are both NRM and can still work together despite their recent squabbles.

Sources told us that the president and other CEC members will summon the two officials for a meeting aimed at reconciling them so that they steer parliament without fights. Meanwhile, NRM EC chairman Tanga Odoi says CEC resolved to ban any further campaigns between Kadaga camp and that of Oulanyah until Thursday when the caucus will meet to finally agree on the people to fill the two positions but added that there is a likelihood that the status quo will remain.

Odoi said that CEC resolved to block further campaigns after realizing that the campaigns were tearing up the caucus and were likely to divide the caucus.
