Members of parliament have launched an operation code named ‘OPERATION TUNA LENGO MOJA’ [let’s work together] aimed at countering FDC’s defiance campaign which they say is illegal. The operation led by Col. Fred Mwesigye [MP Nyabushozi] and Buganda youth chairman Mukasa Sewava Joseph among others, has been launched at Fairway hotel.

The group said that they are concerned that even after elections ended, Besigye and his group have continued to mislead the masses especially youths that there were no elections and yet even his MPs are waiting for swearing-in this month. Mwesigye says this operation is aimed at ensuring peace and stability and that no one should disrupt peace. He says the group is going to traverse the country dissuading youths from being used in violence and also urged Ugandans to respect our leaders who were democratically elected. Mwesigye challenged MPs not to keep quiet when Besigye is moving with defiance campaign, warning that if they do not speak out, they will be charged with subversion.

Isa Kato, a former operative in the Go Forward group of Amama Mbabazi said that already the tourism sector where he operates a shop is sneezing because tourists fear to come to Uganda due to bad publicity suggesting that the country is chaotic. Sewava says the group wants Museveni to appoint only those ministers who will be able to improve on employment creation in the country so that youths can get jobs and engage into productive work.
