Kasaija to deny funds to ministries that lack strategic plans

The Government has resolved to halt release of finances to any ministry, department or agency that has no strategic plan.

The resolution follows a report on government annual performance for the financial year 2015-2016 that indicated that only 5-16 sectors have their plans aligned to the National Development Plan II, while 66 local governments out of 156 have aligned and on average only 50% of ministries departments and agencies have not aligned their plans with NDP11.

While speaking at a annual performance conference in Kampala, the minister for finance Matia Kasaijja said that the long awaited middle income status is likely to delay if government sectors continue to work dis-jointly towards the implementation of the National development plan II and the sustainable development goals.

He has emphasized that no funding will be availed for the financial year 2017/2018 to sectors that are unprepared and lack focus.
