East African central banks approve cross border payments

The East African Community is beginning to show fruits especially to the business fraternity that now central banks of three countries have approved the cross boarder payment system that will see ease in money transfers than before.

The three countries including Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania in this program will see its people safely and efficiently transfer their monies through the central banks of these countries.

The Deputy Governor B.O.U Louis Kasekende explains that before, it was an individual arrangement system with any bank to ensure the transfer of the money from one country to the other is fulfilled which was time consuming.

Kasekende says this new arrangement is to promoting regional trade and enhancing economic integration as the Director communications department.
