UNEB fires Fagile Mandy

We have been told that Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) has ended the services of its chairman, Fagil Mandy. As a result Manday reportedly moblised youth from FDC and DP headquarters to go and invade UNEB offices in Ntinda, Kampala.

The action prompted the Inspector General of Police, Kale Kayihura to deploy police that pitched camp at the UNEB headquarters. The police deployment at UNEB was commandeered by the director of police operations, Grace Turyagumanawe and Commandant Elias Kasirabo.

According sources at UNEB, the police was deployed to guard UNEB secretary Mathew Bukenya from bullying by Fagil Mandy. Mandy had asked Bukenya to step down on grounds that his contract had ended on April 17, 2014 after serving UNEB for 16 years. Bukenya described Mandy as an idle talker and reportedly fired him.
