councellors petition parliament over lord mayor

15 Councilors and local leaders from different divions of Kampala have
petioned leader of opposition in parliament Wafula Ogutu demanding
parliament to order the Supreme Court to fast track ruling concerning the
office of the lord mayor.

Presenting a 200 pages petition to the leader of opposition, the leader of
the delegation who is also the makerere university councillor known to be controversial Barnderd Luyiga said the absence of the lord mayor Erias

Lukwago has affected business at the authority.

The councilors say that almost five months down since the matter was taken
to court, has not been finalized yet the courts have been able to dispose
of other issues like the recent passed homosexuality bill 2014, case on
appointment of Benjamin Odoki among others.

The councilors also in their petition accused the minister for presidency
Frank Tumwebaze for having misled councilors to impeach lord mayor out of
office despite court order not do so.

They say the the minster who is supposed to lead the authority in the
absence of the lord mayor has done much worse in steering the KCCA.

They say the minister has championed the politics of divide and rule at
Kampala city authority instead of bringing unity among the councilors.

Meanwhile the leader of opposition said that parliament as an arm cant not
direct courts to to speed up case ,but promomised to consult the their
layers to find out why court has taken long on the matter.
