FDC mps fail to party contributions as the party faces financial crisis

Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] is exploring the possibility of
arm-twisting some of their adamant members of parliament yet to pay up
their due monthly contributions to the party coffers. According to the
party spokesperson John Kikonyogo, a considerable number of MPs in the
opposition party have apparently gone months without yielding to their
obligation thus adding a strain on the already severed financial
standing of the party.

Kikonyogo said that the top Executive is soon to sit to discuss the
next action on the defaulters, who according to him include among
others, Rukiga County MP Jack Sabiti, Agago Woman MP Franca Akello and
Budadiri east MP Isaias Ssasaga. About Sh 400,000 is expected of each
ordinary Member of Parliament every month to support the smooth
running of the party activities.

Kikonyogo said that following the party’s previous NEC Meeting where
the defaulters’ case was brought up, the Leader of Opposition Wafula
Oguttu was tasked to make a comprehensive report on the matter, Ogutu
is set to unveil the full list of defaulters in the next Executive
meeting scheduled in a few days’ time. According to the party
constitution, each Member of Parliament on FDC ticket is mandated to
pay a monthly subscription fee to the party`s account to enable it
carry out its activities.
