Nakaseke alarmed after Congo Crimean fever outbreak

Residents in Nakaseke District are worried after the outbreak of Congo Crimean fever that has claimed lives of people in the district.

The minister of health for general duties Sarah OPendi has pledged to give a detailed statement on the alleged outbreak in the district.

Opendi made the pledge while responding to a matter raised by Nakaseke South MP Luttamaguzi Ssemakula who said that the district needs financial support to handle the 22 cases of people who have the fever and are being treated in the isolation centers in the district.

Opendi at first rubbished the claims of the MP saying that all the people suspected of the virus had tested negative.

However the Kasanda North MP Patrick Nsamba challenged her to give further details on people in the isolation centers which prompted her to pledge to give a detailed statement on wednesday.

Last week the permanent secretary at the ministry of health Dian Atwine deined claims that there was an outbreak of the disease in the district.
