sharing of mulago hospital mortuary with Kampala capital city Authority has left it in poor state

Following reports that the mortuary at Mulago national referral hospital is in poor condition, the executive director of the hospital, Dr. Byarugaba Baterana and the acting director health and environment at Kampala capital city Authority Okello Ayen  revealed to  journalists that the mortuary is being shared between the two organizations after the city mortuary which is owned by Kampala capital city Authority (  KCCA) lost shape  and now waiting   for rehabilitation.

According to Dr. Byarugaba, the Mulago mortuary is to be rehabilitated which will see it expand to accommodate 200 bodies from the current 16 daily though he notes that the mortuary is also lacking proper water system which needs to be repaired.

However, Okello mentions that the authority is in the process of repairing the city mortuary which will be complete in March next year.

Both facilities have spent more than 40 years in existence without any kind of repair which has now seen them move to deplorable conditions.
